Cyberspace invites users over 2 years old
The International exhibition and forum InfoCom 2007 is held at the Crocus Expo from October 24 through 27. It is organized for the seventh time and regarded as the biggest event in this field. According to the RF ICT Minister Leonid Reiman it became “a recognized review of world achievements” in IT sphere. The exhibition’s motto was “Technologies for everyone”. Practical use of latest developments became a leitmotif of the show.
Exhibition organizers tried to show how application of IT can enhance quality of life. Thus, at the ICT Ministry exposition guests got into the City of the Future incorporating a university, a school, a day care center, a hospital and a drugstore. Electronic classroom gave an idea of what schooling will be in the nearest future. Interactive teaching aids, 3D course in astronomy – such things excited envy but anyone could feel sorry about an electronic home-school book as it gives parents information about their child’s progress at school sending them daily SMS-report.
All technologies and unique innovative developments of domestic and foreign scientists could not merely be seen but also tested at the exhibition: here medical diagnosis can be made or one can drop into libraries or flip through illustrated museums catalogues. Also a project of implementation of the state program on creation of technological parks in the RF is of big interest. Special events, seminars and master classes will be conducted. The exhibition’s guests can master Linux OS and participate in a contest for the quickest computer assembly. The programme also includes computer games competitions and creation of web-pages photo galleries online.
Every day of the exhibition was topical. October 25 was the Regions Day, October 26 is announced as Education Day. Its program includes topical round tables, awarding prizes to winners in the contest “Kompiuternyi vseobuch”, All-russian students scientific and technical conference. Saturday, the last day of the exhibition is traditional Family Day. It includes a variety of entertainments such as presentation of specialized resources, a LEGO play space, exhibition of collectively colored pictures and even sweet presents. In the “family” framework the Day of the children Internet will be held organized by the TYRNET project where children over two years old are invited.
For the first time the job fair works at the exhibition. Here newcomers and professionals can look through a job bank that numbers more than 1000 vacancies or pass a job interview by personnel officers of the leading companies. Besides it’s a good opportunity for students in their final year as the companies are looking about whiz kids.
Among Friday’s events a round table “ICT’s role in education” held by CNews Conferences stands out. The participants will discuss Moscow projects School of the Future and Student’s Card as well as issues concerning setting up Internet access in regional educational institutions. The most advanced users will be attracted by the conference on the Perl programming which will be held in the framework of the InfoLinux section.
